Install and sign in
Kyra is in alpha, so the app is not in the public app stores yet. Access is granted account by account.
1. Get access
Section titled “1. Get access”If you have not been let in yet, ask for access at kyra-hi.com — you give an email address, confirm it from your inbox, and you are on the list. Signing in before your account is allowed shows a waiting screen rather than the app.
2. Install the app
Section titled “2. Install the app”Sign in to the web portal first — both download paths are behind your account.
| Platform | How |
|---|---|
| Android | Download the app from the portal and open the file to install it. Android will ask you to allow installing from your browser; that is expected for a build that is not from the Play Store yet. |
| iOS | Join through TestFlight using the invitation sent to your email address, then install from the TestFlight app. |
Kyra also runs in a desktop browser — open kyra-hi.com and sign in. The browser gives you the full portal: notes, memory, transcripts, settings, and account management. Talking to Kyra in the browser is rolling out gradually and may not be enabled for your account yet; the phone is the reliable voice surface.
3. Sign in
Section titled “3. Sign in”Kyra supports several ways in. Use whichever you prefer — they all reach the same account, and you can add more later.
- Microsoft (personal accounts)
- GitHub
- Apple (iOS)
- Passkey — a fingerprint, face, or device PIN instead of a password
Adding or removing a sign-in method
Section titled “Adding or removing a sign-in method”Open Settings → Account in the portal to see which methods are linked, add another, or remove one you no longer use. Linking a second method before you need it is worth doing — it is what saves you if you lose access to the first.
Passkeys
Section titled “Passkeys”A passkey lives on your device and is unlocked the way you unlock the device. Register one from Settings → Account. You can register more than one (phone and laptop), which is the sensible arrangement.
4. Let Kyra set itself up
Section titled “4. Let Kyra set itself up”The first time you open the app, Kyra introduces itself and walks through setup by voice rather than showing you a settings form. Tap to allow audio when asked, then just answer normally.
It will ask about:
- Where your notes should go — a Kyra cloud notebook is the default and the one everything else is built around.
- What you want to use it for — this seeds how it organises things and how it talks to you.
- Your name and how to address you.
You can skip it and configure things by hand later, but the conversation is quicker than the forms.
Device permissions
Section titled “Device permissions”Kyra asks for these as it needs them, not all at once. Each one is refusable, and refusing only removes the matching capability.
| Permission | What it unlocks |
|---|---|
| Microphone | Talking to Kyra at all. This is the one that is not optional. |
| Notifications | Being told when background work finishes or needs you. |
| Calendar | Reading your schedule, creating and moving events. |
| Reminders | Setting reminders that fire on your device. |
| Contacts | “Call Mark” resolving to the right Mark. |
| Phone | Placing calls through your normal dialler. |
Calendar, reminders, and contacts are read and written on your device. Kyra works with them in the moment; they are not uploaded and stored.
