Glossary
Approval — the point where Kyra stops and asks before doing something consequential. A state a task can be in, not a flag on one. More →
Attachment — a file or image you shared with Kyra, optionally attached to a note. Counts against your plan’s storage.
Backlink — the reverse of a link. A note shows what points at it, maintained automatically.
Branch — a parallel version of a notebook. Draft a reorganisation without touching what everyone else sees. More →
Capability — something Kyra can do. What is available depends on your account, plan, device permissions, and which surface you are on. The portal’s Capabilities page lists yours.
Commit — one saved change to a notebook, with a message and an author. Every save is one.
Credit — Kyra’s usage unit. Roughly one per voice minute, plus AI work behind the scenes. More →
Local door — the small process on your machine that applications connect to so Kyra
can drive them. Started by kyra connect. Never dials the network.
Effect — what an action changes: nothing, the view, a draft, saved data, the device, or something outside your machine. Providers declare it, and it is what decides whether Kyra asks you first.
Frontmatter — the YAML block at the top of a note. Structured fields; can be typed and edited with proper controls. More →
Interaction mode — the register Kyra is talking in: quick, explaining, designing, drafting, reviewing, approving, driving. More →
KYRA.md — a file in a notebook describing what it is for, how you want it organised, and your vocabulary. Kyra reads it when working there.
Local notebook — a notebook stored only in the browser that created it. Kyra cannot see it, and it does not sync.
Mediation — the opt-in wiring that lets Kyra drive Claude Code sessions running inside your editor. Separate from the extension itself. More →
Memory — a durable fact about you, used automatically when relevant. Not a note. More →
Note — a Markdown file in a notebook.
Notebook — a Git repository of notes. The unit of access control and publishing. More →
Nudge — a proactive observation from Kyra: a contradiction, a stale reference, an open question. At most one per notebook per day.
Organisation — a shared workspace with its own notebooks, members, billing, and credits. More →
Orb — Kyra, on the home screen. Tap it to talk.
Posture — how involved you want to be in confirmations, across your account: plan,
ask, or trusted. More →
Provider — the part of an application that speaks Kyra’s protocol, so Kyra can drive its meaning rather than its pixels. More →
Publishing — rendering a notebook as a public website. More →
Push-to-talk — hold a button to speak instead of leaving the microphone open.
Reference — a handle on a real thing in an application, scoped to a moment. Goes stale rather than silently pointing at something else.
Security group — a named group inside an organisation you grant notebook access to, instead of managing people one at a time. More →
Sensitivity — what a mistake costs in one place: low, normal, or high. Half of
the confirmation setting; a posture is the other half.
Session — one continuous conversation. Saved afterwards as a transcript.
Share link — a read-only URL to a notebook, working for anyone who has it. Expiring or not, revocable.
Skill — one of Kyra’s self-contained capabilities. Added without a central registry, which is why the list grows without the app changing around it.
Task — a unit of background work with a lifecycle: queued, running, waiting, needs you, completed, failed, cancelled. More →
Transcript — the saved record of a session, readable and searchable in the portal.
UAP — Universal Application Protocol. The open contract a provider implements. More →
Wiki-link — [[path/to/note]]. A link between notes in a notebook.
Workspace — either your personal space or an organisation. They share nothing.
