Typing instead of talking
Kyra is voice-first, not voice-only. Meetings, quiet carriages, open-plan offices, and anything containing a long identifier are all better typed.
Text and voice are the same conversation. Type a question, get a spoken answer later in the same session; start by voice and finish by keyboard. Kyra does not lose the thread when you switch.
Text chat
Section titled “Text chat”Tap the keyboard control on the home screen. This is the durable text surface: messages persist, and Kyra can reply to something asynchronously — you ask, close the app, and the answer is waiting.
Use it for:
- Anything with exact strings — URLs, file paths, code, IDs, addresses.
- Long input you would rather compose than speak.
- Somewhere you cannot talk.
- Picking up a conversation from earlier.
Typing mid-session
Section titled “Typing mid-session”You do not have to end a voice session to type. Open the composer during a live session and the typed message goes into the same conversation — Kyra answers by voice, or on screen, depending on what fits.
The common case: you are talking, and you need to give Kyra something you cannot say — a URL, an error message, a name with an unusual spelling. Type that one thing and carry on speaking.
Sharing a file or a picture
Section titled “Sharing a file or a picture”Share a document or an image with Kyra and it will look at it — describe it, read it, answer questions about it, or pull the text out. You can then attach it to a note so it lives in the notebook alongside your writing.
Useful for: a photo of a whiteboard, a receipt, a PDF you want summarised, a screenshot of an error.
Attachments count against your plan’s storage. Manage them in Portal → Settings → Attachments.
Dictating into the portal
Section titled “Dictating into the portal”In the browser, Kyra can also write into the field you are looking at — composing at your cursor in a note or a form rather than answering in a chat window.
You can say editing commands as you go:
- “New heading — Launch blockers”
- “Bullet” … “next bullet”
- “Scratch that”
- “Save it”
